As the leading supplier of highly integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) infrastructure solutions, DesignArt Networks recently unveiled a ground breaking advance in mobile backhaul technology – the DAN3200. The new technology addresses the need for flexible, low-cost, high-capacity backhaul for the evolving heterogeneous 3G/4G network.

In conjunction with DesignArt (News - Alert) Networks´ Unified Mobile Backhaul software pack, the DAN3200 addresses operators´ requests for flexible, low-cost, easy to install, multi-gigabit wireless mobile backhaul, according to company officials.

“The DAN3200 provides a single-chip, full-duplex gigabit and backhaul pipeline in any spectrum,” Oz Barak, CEO of DesignArt Networks (News - Alert), said in a press release. “ It takes advantage of the unmatched performance and programmability of our hardware assisted DSP baseband technology, ideal for high-capacity point-to-point (PtP) and point-to-multipoint (PtMP) backhaul applications.”

As an integrated hardware and software platform, DAN3200 leverages long-haul microwave or short-haul E-band spectrum assets enabling high-capacity line-of-sights backhaul applications. Additionally, it supports high-capacity non-LOS (NLOS) wireless backhaul.

In a release, Emmy Johnson, founder and principal analyst of Sky Light Research, said, “The DAN3200 from DesignArt delivers a unified mobile backhaul solution that can utilize a combination of spectrum assets. The flexibility of the DAN3200 SoC meets the challenging operator requirements for backhauling small cells, while also meeting the requirements for larger, macro cells. With microwave backhaul equipment pushing past $3 billion annually, at a projected average growth rate of 30 plus percent, the ability to target traditional and small cell backhaul markets effectively is a strategic factor for success.”

DesignArt Networks Ltd. develops infrastructure solutions for the evolving 3G and 4G mobile radio access network infrastructure (RAN). DAN open SoC platforms are based on unique multi-layer, multi-core architecture that integrates all four processing layers require for design of wireless product into a single chip, ranging from base stations, radio heads, backhaul systems, up to fully integrated multi-sector 4G base station systems with zero-cost self-backhaul. With the inclusion of full-featured and trial-ready software applications, DesignArt provides a single powerful integrated system development framework. While vendors benefit from the low-cost, powerful and flexible product portfolio, Operators benefit from best-of-breed, yet compact RAN equipment having minimum power consumption capability.
