Tzeva is a non-profit organization which strives to mend the widening economic and social gaps in Israeli society. “Youth Building a Future” believes that taking action makes a difference and is comprised of active citizens changing the lives of individuals, communities and society.
Tzeva sets up and operates study and enrichment centers in public schools across Israel that encourage learning and promote social involvement with the help of volunteers.
Throughout the academic year, activities for children ages 9-12 take place twice a week in the afternoon at the school. During each session, time is allocated to schoolwork and activities emphasizing social values and themes which are at the core of Tzeva’s educational approach.
Tzeva volunteers include high-tech professionals as well as university and high-school students, business executives and senior citizens. Tzeva invests resources in training volunteers and provides professional guidance throughout the year. The volunteers serve as role-models and work with the children on a one-on-one basis. Each child’s progress is monitored throughout the year in accordance to his/her respective objectives. A unique relationship naturally develops between the child and the volunteer and contributes to their respective personal growth.
Tzeva operates various platforms for volunteering, including:
- Weekly one-on-one volunteering in Tzeva enrichment centers;
- Occasional group volunteering (lectures/workshops);
- Administrative and fundraising support for the organization.
In the 2007-2008 academic year Tzeva will open 4 new centers and will operate a total of 30 enrichment centers across Israel, approximately 750 children and 750 volunteers will participate on a weekly basis in Tzeva activities and over 150 volunteers will participate in one-time activities.
